My name is Andy Thompson – I live in the UK with my lovely wife and a brown cockapoo called CoCo.
Our 3 children have grown up and left the nest and we have 2 grandchildren (currently)
I am approaching the age where I could retire from my full time job but I do enjoy it and I would miss the people if I left. I mostly work from home

I have always had a dream about starting my own business though.
Part time, on the side, maybe earn enough to make my retirement a little more comfortable (or perhaps even hasten it’s arrival)
So over the last few years I have started to build it.
I made sure that I understood the ins and outs (and theory) of building a list, driving traffic, creating products, SEO, WordPress.
I niched down and then niched up, had a little bit of success but never really enough to justify the time and effort I was putting in.
I was (in truth) spinning my wheels – safe in the comfort zone of a full time job and maybe not really needing to make money to feed a retirement plan which I knew was a good few years away
But I was always faced with the nagging doubt that I was good enough to make this thing real, and then it dawned on me whilst walking CoCo on a lovely sunny day
I realised that I needed to change my mindset.
I was not afraid of failure. Failure was easy and could be played out without actually telling anyone
I was actually afraid of success.
Which is silly, really.
But it was stopping me from launching things, pushing buttons and was leaving projects half finished.
I also realised that in my day job, I use (with apologies to Liam Neeson) “a certain set of skills” which are extremely useful when setting up your own business.
More importantly, I realised that when I am “doing my thing ” at work, I think like a Project Manager.
And I wasn’t thinking like a Project Manager in my attempts at my solopreneur business.
This site is therefore all about my shift in focus and how I changed my mindset to achieve my (relative) success.
And I firmly believe that you can make those same changes – you may just need a little push.
There are some great free tools dotted across the site, which should help you move forward, as well as the articles on the blo
